The world renowned Cranfield School of Management in the UK will present a scholarship to any member of the three leading IFAC accountancy bodies in Sri Lanka, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants Sri Lanka (ICASL) or the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Sri Lanka Branch (CIMA). Full Time MBA Programme Director Sean Rickard who informed Sri Lanka of the scholarship said, “We hope the scholarship attracts candidates who will benefit from this initiative and that, with the help of the accounting bodies in Sri Lanka, it will raise Cranfield’s profile. We are extremely grateful for the support of the institutes in this. We will be reviewing the success of the programme after two years.”

Industrial and Financial Systems (IMS), Sweden has announced the establishment of a competence centre for the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon. The centre, the first of its kind in the country, it is intended for awareness on the benefits of a technology-based Enterprise.
“The centre of expertise creates awareness component-based enterprise systems through activities such as research, case studies, training, seminars and workshops”, Dr. MP Jaiswal, professor of information technology management MDI Gurgaon and the leader of the Competence Center, explained to the inauguration.

The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, (IIM-B) has entered into a partnership with Hughes Escorts Communication Ltd (HECL) to offer a host of long-term programmes to working executives over the Hughes’ Direcway Global Education Platform.
These specialised programmes cater to the needs of a broad spectrum of industries. In the coming years, IIM Bangalore will also target international markets such as Sri Lanka, Singapore and parts of West Asia.
Two new programmes - Advanced General Management Program (AGMP) for IT and ITES professionals (AGMP) and Executive General Management Programme (EGMP) - are slated for launch in the next two months.
