Bunking class is the college!

Xpress way to B-school

The event, conducted for the second time, is targeted at undergraduate and engineering colleges. The participants would have to devise a media plan to promote and market their respective institutes.

The last date for entry forms to reach the B-school is October 15. The teams, two to four members from each college, would have to develop a promotional campaign for their college using print, audio-visual and web-media which had to be sent to the external linkages cell of the institute, the organisers of the event. “We are targeting about 300 colleges this year, keeping in view the popularity of the event. We have started sending invitations to the colleges,” said Arjun Chatterjee, event coordinator and senior executive member of external linkages cell. According to Chatterjee, the contest was organised to promote creativity, marketing and advertising skills among college students.

Workshop for directors

The International Institute of Management and Governance (IIMG) is organising a six-day workshop for company directors. The workshop, which began on October 13, will address issues of transparency, accountability, equity, integrity and social and environmental responsibilities of company directors.

Participants at the end of the six-day programme will be given a PG Diploma in Company Directorship. The programme is divided into 12 modules. These include Duties, Responsibilities and Liabilities of Directorship, Board’s Role in Strategic Planning and Managing Innovation among others.

The faculty for the programme includes Justice M. N. Venkatchaliah, former Chief Justice of India, Dr P. G. Apte, Director IIM Banagalore, Mr C. P. Jain, Chairman NTPC

From management development programme in IIM-K

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K), is a three-day development programme (MDP) on project management on campus, in its Kunnamangalam near here on June 2. Saji Gopinath is coordinator of the program.

Objectives

The program is designed for people, the implementation of projects, planning and project monitoring and supervision in funding agencies and coordinate the implementation of projects.

The objectives of the programme, participants are familiar with different network technologies, project management in developing an understanding of tools and techniques for effective time management and economies of scale in the projects.

Hands-on Training

The programme also addresses various issues, including the allocation of resources, director of insecurity, project budgeting, monitoring and management market.

The training program Hands-on in the project management software is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to manage projects.

FMS, South Campus biz start writing competition.

The Faculty of Business Economics (FMS), South Campus, Taksha - the store paper writing competition for the design students of MBA Management Services (MBA-MS).

MBA-MS is the first of its kind full-time MBA program in India by the FMS on the establishment by specialists and leaders in the services sector. It is also the first regular full-time MBA program SGF in the South Campus, University of Delhi.

Taksha invites participants to submit a business tour of 3000 words on topics such as health care, retail, IT / ITES sector and the financial sector. This contest is open to students and administrative staff of enterprises. Each document must be the current scenario, the challenges of the future, the vision and strategies to follow.

IME seminar

The Institute of Management Education in association with the Society for Consumers and Investors’ Protection organised a National Seminar on ‘Concept paper on Company Law’ recently in the Capital, said a press release. On the occasion, Minister of State for Company Affairs, P C Gupta, while delivering his inaugural address emphasised the fact that regulatory loopholes must be plugged in order to ensure the interests of the small investors and the general public, as well as the companies. He informed the participants that for this purpose, a high-powered committee had been set up under the chairmanship of J J Irani of Tata Group.

IT workshop held

A workshop on “Prospects for the industry of information technology - issues, challenges and opportunities” took place at the University Business School, Panjab University, this morning.

Participants stressed the need for a government policy to charge companies from abroad, for units throughout the country, in order to prevent labour from India to export.

IIM-As PGPX gets set for launch

It may be just another academic programme for most of us. But the equity that the soon-to-be launched Post-Graduate Programme in management for Executives (PGPX), holds for the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, is evident from the fact that the institute plans to allocate Rs 1 crore for promotion of the programme from the next academic year.

On Sunday, the 62 participants of IIM-A’s PGPX programme will begin their induction as the programme gets launched together with the institute’s much-awaited convocation.

The objective of the programme, first introduced in January 2004, is to enhance skills of working professionals, particularly of foreign origin. The first batch of 62 comprises four foreign citizens - one British, one Malaysian and two American - and three foreign permanent residents.
