MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad), announced a programme of career development in new fields of communication - public relations and events. The course starts from July 15, 2003 and will cost Rs 150,000 ($ 4,000).
A press release adds that the main objective of the programme is to develop students in leading specialists in the fields of public relations and event management for careers in sectors Public Relations, Corporate Communications, event management and communication marketing functions.

The retail market is growing at a steady rate of 12 per cent and has the potential to generate five lakh more jobs in the next few years, according to a joint study made by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the McKinsey.

Retailers Association of India (RAI) and the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), met for a course of six months from Visual Merchandising.
The programme Professional Visual Merchandising & Creative Communication is described as the first of its kind in the country.

What can be expected from MICA in 2007? Any plans to expand to other cities?
In 2007, MICA would be launching new courses in Health Management with an emphasis on studying water, sanitation and hygiene issues in the country, the doctor-patient relationship, and the like. We might also launch a programme in new media or digital media which is the need of the hour today

Premier educational institutes in the state are all set to increase intake for, they are starting new courses to accommodate more students.
Cumulatively, the increase would see around 250 new students in the campus.
These institutes are National Institute of Design (NID), Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), Centre for Environment, Planning and Technology University (CEPT), Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA)and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

In a unique partnership, students from the three premier institutes of Ahmedabad - Indian Institute of Management, National Institute of Design and Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad - have got together to put their core skills in creating business plans for start-up ventures.
The collaboration, which currently revolves around the students of one institute taking up elective courses in the other institutes, has led to students from NID taking up the business design aspect, students of Mica taking up the communications management, while their counterparts from IIM-A shaping the financial side of the business plan.
