Jamia date of democracy

Coming indeed, now wait for eight years, Jamia Millia Islamia, the date of this Thursday of democracy should be a big test for students of the community. As the campus in the polls for the Students’ Union, the tension is high, with all these last weeks, all students in classes.

To determine, amid high security standards, the elections were of all colors and campaigns already tea parties. But while the student community closer to the elections with great anticipation, there are also many concerns about the direction that the polls could in the future.

It can not be something like the Students’ Union elections or at the University of Delhi Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), but despite the strong path Jamia decided by a ban on the participation of political parties in elections , Polls are not totally independent candidates.

If, as the banners and pamphlets in the streets they dominate the campus are an indication of power of money still an important role in the participation of political parties - even if it is not open - seems now and already an integral part of campus politics.

The Supreme Court, in its request for cleaning students welcomed the elections held by students in general, but nobody really believes that the policy of alliances may be far from the campus.

Even Jamia Mushirul Hasan, vice-chancellor recognizes that students take away from politics around them, should not be a good idea “It is time that students of politics is old venue. Political parties are part of the process Democratic, and we can not really keep students isolated. But we can try to regulate elections to ensure they are a civilized manner,”feels Prof.Hasan.

The fear of disqualification May have ensured that none of the candidates, a reference to assistance by a party, but as a member of an obligation to report students left, most rules have already been flouted, even if more discreetly. For the small-son of a member of Parliament against a Top-mail to the admission of other candidates on the support of several political parties in the Jamia is really beneath the surface immediately. And maybe also remain to students, you certainly know that the democratic process is at least this time, no problem.
