The Film and Media School of Institute of Integrated Learning in Management (IILM) is launching an undergraduate course in journalism in collaboration with the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Ireland. As per the MoU signed between Dr Ahindra Chakrabarti, director, IILM and Dr Frank McMohan, director, Academic Affairs, DIT, the degree (Bachelor of Arts) will be awarded by DIT and the programme conducted in New Delhi will provide professional and multi-skilled practical training in print, broadcast and online journalism.

The tie-up will enable a large number of aspiring media professionals to get quality training and also provide comprehensive collaborative training in media impact and the interplay of media, politics and public affairs. The recruitment for the undergraduate course is likely to commence in August 2003. DIT is the largest higher education institution in Ireland with 22,000 students pursuing 85 programmes worldwide at various levels. DIT is a highly acclaimed institution for media training and offers nine undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various aspects of media.

The Film and Media School at IILM was established in 2002. Even though its foray into media education is at an infancy stage, the institute has already accumulated key laurels such as the collaboration with National Film and Television School, UK (a leading television training school) for the postgraduate course.

Free postgraduate seminar by Symbiosis

Symbiosis, the Pune-based educational group is organising a `Free postgraduate seminar’ at Loyola College, Chennai, on October 23, Sunday.

USDLA Announces Committee to Lead Distance Learning Initiative

United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) announces the national committee members of its 2008 National Distance Learning Week, which will be held on November 10 -14, 2008.

The 14 member USDLA national committee is made up of representatives from various constituencies, including university and K-12 educators, corporations, military and government representatives, home schooling administrators, telehealth and media professionals. These members were chosen for their dedicated work in their professions and the field of distance learning. The committee members will work to promote the awareness of distance learning within their organizations and communities.

Dr. Kenneth E. Hartman was recently appointed by the USDLA as the 2008 NDLW national committee chairman for the second year. Dr. Hartman is the Academic Director for Drexel University Online. “I am honored to take this initiative to another level. Our goal is to educate the public on the exciting and ground breaking events occurring each day in distance learning,” says Dr. Hartman. “We want to continue moving forward after the success of the inaugural National Distance Learning Week,” says Hartman.

“USDLA could not have found a better person to lead this initiative. Dr. Hartman’s experience in education and the media will ultimately result in a very successful event,” says Dr. John G. Flores, Chief Executive Officer the USDLA.

Interview: Indian people want to learn more about China

The Indian people want to know more about China, an Indian expert who has just returned from China Xinhua said recently in an interview.

Dr Sujit Basu, director of the India Management Development Institute (MDI), at the sixth meeting of the India-China Eminent Persons Group (EPG) in Beijing, said: “As the fastest growing two economies, peoples between India and China know whether more about each other. ”
