Textile cluster in Tamil Nadu

tiruchirapalli, April 19 (PTI): The Union Textile Ministry is in phase textile cluster and sharing of investments in strategically important locations in Tamil Nadu.

A total of 20 groups were planned in the country, and it would be three in Tamil Nadu, G Ramesh Babu, Quality Assurance Officer and agent of cluster development, textiles Committee (Ministry of Textiles), told reporters.

These sites have been selected, since the textile 2005-06 by the development programme for the textile ministry had with funding from Rs.two crores.

Under the programme of 2006-07, ten new countries in order to cluster.

The main objetive of the whole project was to raise awareness among weavers and other more recent design and technology, has been inherited from sales outside qualifications. Consortiums composed of Weber and master craftsman, senior in the textile and villages still Junior-weaving community would provide the necessary training in the fields of specialization.

In Tiruchirapalli district, Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) was as a partner in this program.

According to S. Sundar, in-Charge, Center for Contemporary Research Management of the BIM, students at the Institute were visiting handgewebten and textile companies in the field of evaluation of performance levels.

BIM will be in line with recommendations for the right type of machinery and technologies included in this program, and these recommendations will help in training centres mutual establishment.

As a pilot initiative, textiles consortia had already formed in Manamedu in the textile field where heritageous practices cotton production, etc. sarees takes place for several decades
