Focussing on changing work culture and new challenges for upcoming managers, the Global Business Operations programme of SRCC, DU, recently organised a one-day national annual colloquium. Held at Vigyan Bhawan, the theme for colloquium 2004, was ‘Business and Sustainable Development, Changing Scenario and New Challenges’. It deliberated on various dimensions of globalisation that may lead to higher levels of success.
The chairman of ITC Y C Deveshwar while delivering the keynote address emphasised on the impact of human beings on the ecosystem. He said: “Economic progress coupled with ecological and social elevation is what is called as sustainable development.” He spoke about three kinds of business models - one is where the firm pursues the objective of increasing shareholder’s value, second is where the objective of firm is increasing shareholder’s value along with compliance to judicial and economic regulations and finally, the third is where enterprise goes beyond shareholder’s value and withhold commitment and cultural values.
Others present on the dais during the inauguration included Abhijeet Sen, member of Planning Commission; L C Gupta, capital market reformist and former SEBI director; Vinay Bharat Ram of Shri Ram group and D K Mittal, officiating principal of SRCC.
