The MBA students experience Ambani drama on campus

The Ambani “Kahani ‘is the word of the city B-schools. MBA students were stuck in Kochi, Ambani drama, as it unfurled in the last seven months, with all the ingredients of a Hindi film, where Mataji comes on Khandaan rescue.

The future leaders of the full marks Kokila Ben for resolving the issue by the division of the Reliance empire between the two son.

“This would be done. However, the division is not to break the Empire. Diversified portfolio brothers, the company takes only more and better,” said Praveen S., a student of management of Cochin University of Science and Technology.

After Ancheril J. Varkey, a student of Master of Human Resource Management, Rajagiri College, the two brothers are in a position of excellence in their portfolios allocated. “It was a good decision for the family. The future of some three million shareholders was the match. The decision also pleased to market,” he said.

During Shweta Narayanan, another student at the same institution, which felt Split have arrived and “sooner the better,” said Rahul Ramesh consider the topic for months. “We believe that the two brothers are very satisfied with what they have,” said Jayakrishnan, a student of MBA Rajagiri.

As each billing, Mukesh Ambani reserves the flagship of the company - Reliance Industries Ltd - and petrochemical venture IPCL. Anil Ambani gets Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital, he, like Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (ADA).

“Reliance is divided in any case a good case study for us. I am very impressed by the performance plan announced by Anil Ambani. But it is still too early to say whether it can make Reliance Capital in the third largest provider financial services companies and banks in the country, “said S. Vijayan Laja, MBA student at the School of Management and Communication Studies (SCMS), Kalamassery.

During Liya Kuru Villa de Rajagiri warned that the division is a story continues, and it could once again divide the kingdom is the next generation, who like Aysha of Cusat Basheer believes that the family line has already tarnished the image of the Empire was again built on the basis of an RS-100000 crore Corporate giant in 25 years by Dhirubhai Ambani.

However, Mr. Raghu far from the SCMS brushed this comment. “In the days of the Ram and Laxman. Who is all that counts.”

But, is gaining the upper hand in the long term? So far, two different roles to play: Mukesh was the brain and spokesman Anil. “Mukesh is more professional and this is certainly an advantage for him. Anil gives a touch of glamour to what he does,” said Dennis Thomas SCMS.

But his friend Raghu warned that the ability to Anil should not be underestimated. He finally broke the silence and was totally transparent about its plans, “said Raghu.

Business Schools offer programs niche more and more, for some sectors

Business schools offer programs niche more and more to specific sectors. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), rural development, the Institute of Management Anand (IRMA), in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to face the dairy sector. Management Development Institute in Gurgaon began a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Research in Mumbai launched a management course in detail, in collaboration with Pantaloon.

Due to the significant growth in the telecommunications sector Bharti Tele-Ventures has funded school Bharti telecommunications, technology and management of the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.

However, there are doubts about the sustainability and acceptance programs. Given that the institutions want to avoid risks, they start programs on a small scale and not to increase their resources. Schools are also lack the Faculty domain with a savoir-faire.

Pay scales are poor, in order to make the most of the industry.

Niche schools are likely to be successful if they can broaden their offering and focus always in place. XLRI, positions itself as the school offers postgraduate programme in human resource management and working relationship with general administration.

HR, a vibrant field

The role of a Human Resources (HR) manager has gone far beyond the conventional ’managing employees of an organisation’ perspective. The competition prevalent in the industry and its inherent dynamism have transformed HR from a mere support function to an important ingredient of a company’s core functions, professionals note.
Courses aplenty

Cognizant’s HR Vice-President Bhaskar Das says a good HR professional is one who is able to balance and align individual aspirations with priorities of the organisation. “They need to have a good understanding of the entire life-cycle of the HR function from recruiting to talent management/talent development to leadership development.” And this is where a good course could possibly help.

Aspiring HR professionals of today have several courses to choose from. Whether offered as a specialisation in a management or social work programme or as a certificate or executive course focusing just on HR, institutions seem to be fully aware of the industry requirements. The Loyola Institute for Business Administration (LIBA) offers an Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management apart from HR as a specialisation in their management programme.

The Executive Diploma covers areas such as, Interpersonal and Intra-personal Dynamics, Organisational Dynamics, HRD in Organisations, Training, Development and Performance -Reward Management. Director of the institute P.Christie says: “There are several changes in the HR field. A global perspective has become vital for an HR manager.” And this has changed the perspective of institutions. The reliance on labour laws is comparatively less and HR managers are being trained in the area of analytical thinking to meet the demands of the service industry, he adds.

“Today a HR manager cannot survive with mere soft skills. Quantitative ability and reasoning are also very important.” Students with an HR specialisation from the Department of Social Work at D.G.Vaishnav College are much sought-after in the industry. The HR divisions of several leading companies are headed by alumni of this institution.

Head of the Department Vidhya Srinivasan attributes it to their approach that goes beyond the text book. “We have several internships, workshops and practical training sessions to give students a good understanding of the trends in the industry.”

“Every student passing out would have had a stint in an NGO, a corporation school, a company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing, a manufacturing company, an IT and IT-ES company. Students are urged to do internships in other cities to get an idea of labour dynamics in other parts of the country. We also get leading HR professionals to address our students. Our faculty go out of their way to fully equip students and make them industry-ready,” Ms.Srinivasan adds.
