Stock broker nabbed in scrip fraud case
The police nabbed a stock broker for cheating a city builder of his blue chip scrips worth Rs 16 lakh recently. The fraud was detected when the owner of Lakdawala Hotels and Construction Ltd asked his manager Mukesh Vyas to clarify the company’s shares status. the owner discovered that about 13,100 shares of four reputed companies valued around Rs 16,04,400 had been misappropriated. According to officials attached to Lakdawala Constructions, Vyas had been hired in 1996 exclusively for buying and selling the company’s shares. A complaint was lodged at Khar police station in the first week of April, and Vyas was arrested on charges of committing fraud, the police informed.
