Chidambaram to be chief guest at PAU convocation

Union Minister of Finance P. Chidambaram will be the chief guest at the annual convocation of Punjab Agricultural University to be held here on October 31.

The Chancellor,Gen S.F. Rodrigues (retd),will preside.

According to the Registrar, Dr V.K. Sharma, 333 degrees will be awarded. Out of these, 70 are Doctor of Philosophy and 263 Masters’ Programme (Master of Science, Business Administration, Technology and Veterinary Science). In addition, 80 merit certificates would be given to the candidates who have secured highest overall grade point average of 8 or more out of 10.

At the convocation,Dr. Sharma said 31 gold medals and medals, nine awards and one prize will also be given. The degrees to be awarded cover the period from July, 2005, to June, 2006.

The students of College of Veterinary Science,who secured degrees from PAU till April 20, 2006, will also be given degrees; though, College of Veterinary Science has since been elevated to the status of a University. In all, 26 M.V.Sc. degrees will be awarded.

College get-together for prize winners

Doraha, October 27
A get-together was held at Doraha College here today for students who won prizes during the Ludhiana Zone-A youth and heritage festival organised at guru nanak National college.

Dr Narinder Singh Sidhu, Principal, asked them to work hard and participate in forthcoming inter-zonal festivals to be organised at DAV College, Chandigarh, from November 1.

He said out of a total of 40 items presented in the festival, the college participated in 38 items and won commendation in 29 items. “If the participation was of 137 students, 121 have been placed on various positions. The college secured the first positions in 15 items,” he said.

Individual positions were won by Ramandeep Singh, Harvir Singh, Davinder Singh, Ajaypal Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Harjinder Singh, Jagjodh Singh, Sunita Rani, Rajvir Kaur, rupinder Kaur, Parmeet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Pavil and Sukhwinder Singh.

Dr Kuldeep Singh and Prof Harminder Kaur, organising secretary of the festival, also congratulated the winners. OC

NID, MICA in the launch of the Heritage Day

AHMEDABAD: Be rich in less than two hours inherit the 500 years of tradition of communal harmony, the architectural quality and heritage of the town. With this invitation appearance of lines and visuals, the students of Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), a draft poster campaign innovative of the Heritage Walk in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

More than 20 students from the party Crafting MICA, Creative Communication (CCC) draw attention to their posters Heritage Walk during the Ahmedabad Heritage Festival.

Faculty, CCC, MICA, Subhash Tendle said: “Our course is aimed at the development of art and we are still in this course is for students with a Heritage Walk. The idea is to put on the diversity of cultures. We must conserve our rich heritage, we have completely ignored ”

Nihar Kanungo, 25, a student studies and CCC is a native of Uttar Pradesh, was for the first-of-its-kind tour of the heritage of the country. He said: “None of my batchmates had already Heritage Walk. Walking through the narrow streets to see the buildings more than 500 years, with the full association has a very different perspective on the city. ”
