The ongoing intermediate examination has disrupted classes in most of the constituent colleges of Ranchi University in the steel city. Classes have been suspended in Jamshedpur Workers’ College, Jamshedpur Co-operative College and Abdul Bari Memorial College due to the examination.
More than 14, 500 students are appearing for the intermediate examination, which began on March 11 and will conclude on April 15. Principal of Jamshedpur Workers College S.S. Razi said the teachers have been instructed to take extra classes to complete the syllabus once the examination is over. The colleges are also trying to hold additional practical classes for the students.
As for the students, they are enjoying the unexpected break from college. “I study every morning, but during evenings I visit my friends and relatives.
Anyway this fun is short-lived as classes will begin once the intermediate examination gets over. But till then I will enjoy myslef,” said Sheetal, a student.
But her classmate Sunita begged to differ. “I am worried how we will complete such a vast syllabus. I hope our teachers take extra classes,” she said.
Adieu record blues
Ranchi University officials can now bid adieu to the tedious process of manual filing of examination records.
The examination department of the university will install a software to streamline the test records of different constituent colleges in the steel city.
According to sources in the university, the software will create a database of both successful and unsuccessful students. Even the cross-list marks would be available at the click of the mouse. The sources said the software would increase the efficiency of the colleges.
