The Open University of Sri Lanka opens its annual meetings on 19 November Academic Auditorium at the University of Nawala.

The meetings are convened by the presidency of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uma Coomaraswamy. The evaluation is the head-chairman, University Grants Commission Prof. BRRN Mendis.

Given that the Open University is the only national university offers courses of university studies by the withdrawal of fashion, special attention has been Distance Learning.

The interests of the Faculty of Engineering are reflected in newspapers, in which a study on the feasibility of three-wheeled electric as a means of transport economy, a study of drought strategies for conflict resolution in the district Kurunegala and evaluation of the implementation of a taxonomy of the objectives of learning in engineering courses.

The university has a reward system for excellence in research, and the first presentation of these awards will be awarded on academic session.

The Open University also has a commission for seeking advice for educating the distance monitors and provides guidelines for research Distance Education.

Other initiatives include the publication of the OUSL newspaper, a magazine search for distance education / learning, the annual academic meetings and research the publication of a newspaper, Vistas, the Faculty of Science Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty of Education.
