Ingrid Srinath, Chief Executive Officer, Child Relief & You (CRY), gave a presentation on the factors that influence the lives of children in India to the House of Lords in London. Renowned development economist Lord Meghnad Desai, attended the presentation in collaboration with other Indian dignitaries, as Lord Dholakia.

MANIPAL: Rohit Prasad Sharma and Abhishek Sinha , second year students of T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, have won the Second Prize in Debate at Acumen 2006, the National B-School Challenge organized by Business Today in association with Aditya Birla Group, held at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB).
Out of the 39 teams that took part in the debate, four institutes-TAPMI, IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Kozhikode and Christ College qualified for the semi- finals. TAPMI beat IIM-Kozhikode to reach the finals. The other finalist was IIM-Bangalore and the topic for the debate was Big corporations are not agile and adaptive.’
The panel of judges consisted of CEO of Aditya Birla Group, Chairman (Publishing) of Business Today Group, Vice-President of Lenovo India, and a few other dignitaries from the industry.

Chandigarh, February 22: In the seminar on ‘Developed India: Vision 2020’, organised by University Business School of Panjab University, Finance Minister of Punjab, Surinder Singla, who was also the chief guest on the occasion, highlighted that this was the first time that the Indian state had allowed its citizens to grow and create wealth. He said, ‘‘India should be a much larger global power than China.’’ And for this he said he wanted to ignite the minds of the Indian youth, while insisting that political leaders should act as agents of change.
Padmashree Chandermohan lamented that little has happened as far as progress on development is concerned and said management schools should produce entrepreneurs rather than just managers.
Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University Prof K.N. Pathak, while welcoming the dignitaries, wanted education to act as a change agent. On the occasion, Chairman of the Department Prof Satish Kapoor stressed on 100 per cent placement by UBS.
