Indian delegation visits DU.

Dhaka, June 4 (UNB) - A high-profile delegation from different Indian educational institutions Sunday visited Dhaka University and met its VC Dr SMA Faiz. Indian High Commissioner Veena Sikri, Deputy High Commissioner S Chakravarti, DU Pro-VC Prof Yusuf Haider were present on the occasion. The delegation members are Dr RK Soni of Physics Department of Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, Prof Shantanu Bhhattacharyia of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Dr LS Shashidahra, Scientist of CCMB, Hyderabad and GL Sagar of Educational Consultants India Ltd Uttar Pradesh. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interests, especially the possibility of strengthening scientific cooperation, exchange of teachers and students and other programmes between the Dhaka University and the Indian institutions of higher education. Indian High Commissioner Veena Sikri assured VC Dr SMA Faiz of providing all possible assistance and cooperation to the Dhaka University. Later, a general discussion was held between the visiting Indian team and deans, chairmen and experts of the Dhaka University at the Centre of Excellence. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between the Centre of Excellence for Science, Dhaka University and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore at 3PM tomorrow (Monday).

Authorization for the sale of the AU forms begin THE FREE.

Dhaka University (DU), a total of 4388 students enrolled in the current session of academic 2004-2005. Forms of marketing authorisation has already started for this purpose. A total of 9348 forms were distributed yesterday, the first day.

This year, a total of 132 students are enrolled in the department Bangla, 132 for English, 110 for Arabic, (55 +18) 73 for Sanskrit and Pali, (28 +28) 56 for Urdu and Persian 110 for Islamic studies, 110 for History and Islamic culture and the history of 138, 165 for philosophy, 55 for Libraries and Information Science, (15 +15) 30 for the music and drama and 20 students for the department of Linguistics are enrolled in the Faculty of Philosophy.

In the social sciences, Faculty of 220 students are Political Science Department, 220 for sociology, anthropology for 55, 138 of the economy, international relations 110, 66 for Journalism and Mass Communication, 138 for the public administration, for the 83-Social Security Institute - Welfare and Research, 10 for Peace and Conflict Research, and 15 students for Women’s Studies, 60, and 150 students are enrolled at the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

In the Faculty of Science 130 students are Anmeldemonat for Mathematics Department, 180 students in physics, 70 in applied physics, 90 in chemistry, 60 in applied chemistry and chemical technology, 60 for Computer Science and Engineering, 100 (50 50) And for geography, environment, pedology 50, 88 and 50 for students of Applied Statistics Statistics (ISRT).

In addition to the faculty of biology, microbiology for 30 students, 75 per botany, 55 for bio-chemistry and molecular biology, biology for 80, 80 (40 +40) in psychology, 75 for the water and soil of the environment, fisheries and from 20 to 10 for Genetic Engineering Department and biotechnology.

Furthermore, in Business Studies, Faculty of 176 students are enrolled in the balance sheet and the information system. Department of Management Studies, Department of Finance and Banking Department of Marketing, and should also include the same number of students that Department of Accounting and Information Science.
