Pondicherry Oct. 21. A. K. Bhatnagar, professor of physics in the University of Hyderabad will assume charge as the Vice-Chancellor of the Pondicherry University next week, according to university sources here.
The previous Vice-Chancellor, V. T. Patil, demitted office on August 6 following completion of the five-year term. Since then, the Dean of the School of Management, S. V. Narayanan, has been holding the charge.
Mr. Bhatnagar will be the fourth Vice-Chancellor of the university, established in the Central sector some 19 years ago on East Coast Road at Kalapet here.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University (DU) is again at the centre of discussions. This time, not for school, but also for cinema, the role of teachers. The Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, has lined up a number of courses this year in an attempt to aid the professional development of managers, administrators, entrepreneurs, and social workers.
XISS is in the process of drawing up a range of topics to train non-government organisations (NGOs) in , keeping in mind the priorities of small- and middle-level NGOs.
“Every year we draw up a number of new courses. These courses are either suggested by XISS or designed on requests from corporates, NGOs, state government, funding agencies and other organisations,” says R K Biswas, dean of XISS.

The programme was jointly organised by the Lal Bahadur Shastri institute of management and development studies and the national institute of personnel management, UP chapter. Singh also pointed out that the person who pioneered in the field of realising the importance of human resources, was like Akbar, for his way of functioning is the best example of human resource management (HRM). ”To be successful one has to choose best people in their field, delegate and decentralise authority so that results are achieved ,” he elaborated.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were, Sunil Kumar, director of the institute and CP Barthwal, dean (faculty of arts) lucknow University.
