Fundraising for charitable purposes
The Social Service Group (SSG) at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K), under the direction of their fund-raising annual fete on Sunday. The proceeds from the event is used to finance local charitable associations, educational institutions offer scholarships for children and the need to support a retirement home Kozhikode.
This is in conformity with the IIM-K’s philosophy of inculcating concern among future leaders vis-à-vis society.
The event was a great success and saw the active participation of students, teachers and the local community. There were a multitude of events, including games like darts, card games, french Cricket-Fun and games with balloons filled with water. A DJ plays music on animated by the demands of visitors. Food stands served, hunger. Games Competition, sponsored by time, saw a large participation. Income derived exclusively from T-shirts also contributed to that fund.
The ASG plans to increase Rs.30000 on by the party.
The ASG began in 1999 as ad hoc body in the wake of the Orissa cyclone. It was with the government in 2000 with the objective of a positive attitude ongoing impact on the Commonwealth as part of IIM-K efforts by student volunteers.
The main focus of the SSG on improving education and health care, with particular emphasis on women and children.
