Arizonas colleges and universities are struggling to expand their nursing programs to keep up with the demand from potential students.
The result is a long waiting list of qualified applicants who cant enroll.
Statewide, more than two thousand applicants who had completed the necessary prerequisite courses were denied admission to nursing programs in 2006.

An Arizona State University student from Mesa was among those chosen by Glamour magazine this month as one of the nations top 10 college women. Megan McGinnity, 22, is a senior studying political science and economics. She is featured in this months edition of Glamour, ASU officials noted Wednesday.
Last year, she visited 10 countries to collect data for an honors thesis about human trafficking.
A Truman scholar and graduate of Mountain View High School, McGinnity has worked in a Romanian orphanage, tried to end the slave trade in Ghana and established a Model United Nations program for middle school students

British artistic director Simon Dove begins post at Arizona State University Aug. 1
TEMPE, Ariz. – After an international search, the Herberger College of the Arts at Arizona State University announced that it has appointed Simon Dove as chair of its Department of Dance.
Dove, 48, is a contemporary dance expert from Britain who has directed the Springdance international contemporary dance festival in the Netherlands since 2000.
