The CAT paper may be going the GMAT way. Sample this - from 2003 to 2006, the number of questions has fallen from 150 to 75. The GMAT paper has 78 questions.
The number of choices and the duration of the CAT examination have also changed resembling a GMAT paper. And now, the CAT test might soon become an online exam like the GMAT.
Mumbai T.I.M.E institute Director Arks Srinivas says, “The CAT paper’s quantitative section used to be considered very difficult but 2004 onwards, it is becoming easier and more arithmetic driven which is what GMAT follows. And if you look at the verbal section, it was very grammar driven while GMAT is more reasoning based. Again we see a trend change.”

MBA applicants should work for 4-6 years before they plan to get into a top international B-school.
This was the advice offered by Mr Chad Troutwine, Founder of Veritas-Prep, a US-based leading GMAT-prep company while responding to a aspirant query on ‘AskMBAUniverse.com’, a new Expert-Q&A platform launched recently on the website. “The average amount of work experience at the top US MBA programs ranges from 4 years for Stanford to 6 years for Wharton,” said Mr Troutwine. “If you want to attend a top international B-school, I strongly suggest that you work for 4-6 years, gaining valuable leadership experience and industry-specific knowledge”.
Students with work experience of less than two years rarely get a chance to enter leading international B-schools. Emphasizing this fact, he said, “MBA applicants with less than two years of full-time work experience stand little chance of gaining entry into the top programs”.
