Once again students from the School of Business & Economics MBA programme will be taking up the challenge of competing in the 2008 Cranfield Regatta, an international sailing event which is designed to allow MBA students and alumni from all over Europe to meet their counterparts from other business schools. The regatta will take place around Port Solent and Cowes on the last weekend in July and Exeter’s eight-strong crew are working hard in the hope of a high placing for the University. The crew is made up of part-time and full-time MBA students and alumni who have a broad range of sailing skills and experience but are dedicated to doing their best for Exeter. This year’s crew consists of current students Nadia Nikolova, Simon Baird, Nagyb Shah, Stuart Harris, Richard Dawson and alumni Jonny Malcolm, Mark Roberts and Wade Tipton. The race will consist of four head to head races with the various business school teams taking part. The team has is being sponsored by Vospers South West Motor Dealership, Jam Creative, The Birmingham Assay Office and House of Marbles.

NEW DELHI: Roongta Sushil Kumar, was appointed as the president of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL).
He was already an honorarium as chairman of the steel after PSU His VS Jain, July 31.

When Florida Atlantic University President Frank Brogan recently outlined his ten-year vision for the college, he announced his desire to see the school increase its number of online degree programs. In setting forth a lofty target, Brogan established a goal of increasing the number of online programs from its current 5 percent to an ambitious 25 percent of all degree offerings.
Brogan is setting out a standard that should help students immensely. Primarily, students would no longer be forced to complete their programs by traveling to multiple campuses.

CHANDIGARH: To stabilise domestic steel prices state-owned Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation (PSIEC) will enter into an agreement with State Trading Corporation (STC) next month.
The move is aimed at providing raw material to the steel consuming industries, especially small and medium enterprises of the state at a reasonable price.
"Under this initiative, PSIEC and STC will jointly work out a system whereby the efforts would be made to stabilise the prices of steel and then supply it to the steel consuming industry of SME sector of the state," Punjab's Principal Secretary (Industry & Commerce) A R Talwar told reporters here
NEW DELHI: Foraying into the Indian market, Singapore hotels and Meuse-Hospitality Ltd will invest Rs 1000 crore in the next two years, an increase of 100 hotels in the country.
"Over the next two years, we plan to invest Rs 1000 crore on India for the development of 10000 rooms in 100 hotels, particularly in tourist destinations and emerging economies in the country, hotels and Meuse Hospitality Ltd Executive Director Tandon said Anil.
The company was looking at all options for creating new arrangements, existing or acquisition management contracts of its extensions of India, he said.
