The Department of Management Studies, University of Madras, organised a workshop on “Quality management system for school education” on Tuesday at the university premises.
Principals and senior teachers from over 40 schools participated in the workshop. Prof. S. Modi, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Anna University delivered the inaugural address.
Introspection needed
“School education forms the base of the education pyramid. We need personal introspection at every level to ensure quality in our education system,” said Mr. Modi.
Stressing the need to spread such projects in several other centres, he said, schools are ladders that connect students to higher portals of education.
Mr. Modi urged the teachers to address various issues such as syllabi and quality control systems within schools.
M.R.Sathyamurthy, Professor and Head of Department of Management Studies, University of Madras spoke on the need to provide students with good infrastructure.

Kochi, Feb. 5 - THE School of Industrial Fisheries of the Cochin University of Science and Technology is organising a three-day workshop on breeding, farming and management of ornamental fishes here from February 27.
