Opening of the new campus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Salt Lake is the first outside Delhi, Nath said the inauguration of NID perhaps not far away.
NID, the principal place of business is currently in Ahmedabad.
The minister said the government would be more IIFT higher education institutions in the country, increasing challenges of globalization.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee said the government an additional three acres adjacent seven acres in the phase of derivation, which was the final campus of the Institute.
Currently IIFT would run counter to their programmes in rented premises at Salt Lake.
IIFT has launched its two full-time MBA (International Business) in Kolkata.

KOLKATA: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), the country's foremost school specialising in the subject, will set up a campus in the city this July.
IIFT is initially looking for rented space to start classes. It plans to move to its own campus by end-2006 or early next year.
Around 60 students are expected to be given admission on the Kolkata campus. The Delhi campus takes in 100 students per year. IIFT will conduct group discussions and interviews for admission in the city from January 30 to February 2.
