GO Cusat Panel study in Promotions

June 23. The union meeting of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) held today appointed a subcommittee to investigate government orders (GO), offers about 80 teachers in the Varsity not adherence to the guidelines, as the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The subcommittee is composed of members, including Syndicate KNChandrasekharan Pillai, Mathew B. Lopez and Suse Elan.

The Syndicate meeting began late in the morning after a dharna IFC organized by demanding immediate steps for housing construction and other infrastructure for students.

The subsequent meeting Syndicate decided that the security officers at the main entrance to the admission of students within the building management. The meeting, the Vice-Chancellor accepts the proposal for a tax rebate of the Director, School of Management Studies, the Chancellor of the University. The meeting decided appoints KPRajappan Nair and A. Mohandas as a professor emeritus at the University. Cusat Open all-India chess

The 19th Cusat Open all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament begins at the Cochin University’s School of Management Studies Hall here on Sunday. Over 200 players, including International Masters P. Konguvel, Saptharshi Roy, K. Ratnakaran and R.R. Laxman, will figure in the week-long event organised jointly by the Cusat Chess Club and the Cochin University Union. Fewer students smoke when schools close to stores with pricey puffs: study

Students are less likely to smoke if their high schools are near stores that sell high-priced cigarettes, have few in-store cigarette promotions and post health warnings, suggests a University of British Columbia-led study. The survey of 81 schools in five provinces was published in the July-August issue of the Canadian Journal of Public Health. Examinations postponed

KOCHI, JULY 24. The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) and the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit have postponed its examinations to be held on July 26 and 27 respectively in view of the holiday declared by the Government for educational institutions in the State. Cusat has postponed the LLB (first semester) supplementary examinations scheduled to be held on July 26 to July 29. The viva voce for the second semester of M.Phil. Physics to be held on July 26 has also been postponed.
