BANGALORE: The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, one of India’s premier business schools, has announced the launch of the first interactive Management Education Programme - the Executive Management Education Programme (eMEP).
The eMEP is a post-graduate certificate programme in management, which will be delivered via the satellite-based DirecWay Global Education platform across 9 cities in India - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chandigarh and Kozhikode.
The eMEP is a one-year, 240-hour programme to be conducted across 14 centres in 9 cities across India two days a week. More than 3200 potential students had registered on the internet, expressing interest in the program - and 120 students were selected after considering the results of a written entrance test and level of work experience.
The programme is targeted at the working professionals and is designed to impart general management skills to enhance effectiveness of their decision-making and management skills.
The preparatory sessions for the first eMEP course will start off on May 9, 2002 from the HECL Studio at Gurgaon. The estimated cost of the program is Rs 1,05,000.
Announcing the tie-up, AH Kalro, Director, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode said, “The eMEP programme, initiated by The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode is an effort to broad base management education program across India. We have been able to combine IIMK’s competence in creating customised management content - and HECL’s competence in delivering it across the country. We believe that this platform (DirecWay Global Education) offers the perfect balance that redefines the concept of classroom education, retaining all its benefits and improving its reach and enhancing collaborative group learning.”

The core group working to set up a cyber park in Kozhikode includes the Malabar Chamber of Commerce, Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode, National Institute of Technology, Kerala Builders Forum, the IT Forum of Kozhikode and the Calicut Management Association. The project has the backing of the state government.
