KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) of Mumbai is one among the top 25 B-schools in India. The full-time courses offered by the Institute include Master in Management Studies and Post Graduate Programme in Management Studies. SIMSR also provides part- time courses in marketing, finance and human resource development, which are affiliated to the Mumbai University. There are also autonomous part-time diploma courses in personnel management and industrial relations, quality management, journalism and mass communication. It is currently putting together specific programmes like entrepreneurship management and programme for sales executives. SIMSR believes that the faculty of management institutes should come from the industry and students must take up local examples for case studies. Industry leaders are invited regularly to share their expertise. The well- stocked library at SIMSR has over 19,000 books.

The Mumbai-based Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) is a pioneer in having started the first full-time two-year Master in Management Studies (MMS) in India in 1965.
