Your email reminded me of my mom, who always spoke her mind. For example, when she felt that her daughter-in-law was too into designer clothing, she told a friend that her grandchilds first word was Visa.
My mom couldnt pass on a putdown and didnt believe in wasting money on designer clothing. These days, I feel the same way about brand-name MBA programs. Sure, Harvard and Stanford have cachet, but Im not sure outside of those two whether it really matters. Ive listed some questions to ask, below. Marylhurst University launching online business degree programs
Marylhurst University is launching three new online learning degree programs to meet the needs of working businesspeople seeking advancement in their careers.
Applications for Marylhursts online programs for the bachelors of science in business and leadership, bachelors of science in real estate studies, and MBA are currently being accepted. Classes will begin online in the fall 2006 term.
Marylhurst will partner with Orlando, Fla.-based Compass Knowledge Group Inc. (OTCPK: CKNO), a provider of e-learning solutions, to offer the online degrees. Compass will supply distance learning expertise and operational support to assist Marylhurst in recruitment,
Southeastern Illinois College is going online in an attempt to reach more students.
Programs such as online courses, distance learning programs, student e-mail accounts and a planned online degree are all part of the college's plan to move beyond the traditional classroom.
Southeastern's first online course was Economics 121, which was offered in the fall of 1999. The course's instructor was located in Des Plaines, 350 miles north of the college's Harrisburg campus.

Half of a group of prospective college students who said they would be interested in taking an online course in the next 12 months also said they would like to enroll in a completely online degree program, according to a recent survey conducted by the American InterContinental University Online.
The survey also showed that 32 percent of the respondents favored a degree program that was mostly online but included some campus-based courses. Ten percent said they wanted a program that was primarily on campus, the survey showed. Eight percent wanted half online; half on campus.

I am not surprised that the University of Houston is having enrollment problems, because it is not keeping up with the times. Students seeking a master's degree in library science from Wayne State University can earn one while sitting in front of their home computers, starting this fall.
The university is introducing an online option for its Master of Library and Information Science degree.
Wayne State says the goal is to make the program available to "students who cannot attend physical classes." It says all course work for the online program will take place on line and will have the same content as its regular master's program.
The application deadline is June 20, with admissions decisions expected by early July.
