Pune, April 21: NCP threatens to block highway
NATIONALIST Congress Party has threatened to launch an agitation by blocking Pune-Mumbai highway if renovation near Khadki railway station was not carried out immediately. NCP leader Vijay Shewale said in a press statement that alternate road arrangement due to the renovation caused inconvenience to residents.
Kapil Sibal felicitated
MEMBER of Parliament and noted Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal was on Monday felicitated by president of Pune City District Notary Association at a function organised on Monday. Association vice-president Dilip Amolik, association member Sanjay Kamble and Pratap Kamble spoke at the function.
Seminar on treatment of piles
PUNE Surgical Society has organised a free public seminar on treatment of piles. The seminar will discuss aspects like dos and don’ts for patients, piles prevention. The workshop will be held at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan on April 25 at 5.30 pm.
Exhibition on natural history
INTERNATIONAL Collector’s Society of Rare Items has organised an exhibition on ‘natural history’ from April 25 at Balgandharva hall. The exhibition will display information on marine pollution and environment, marine minerals, marine wealth and national income and metals and minerals found on and beneath the earth’s surface in their natural forms. The exhibition timing is from 10 am to 8 pm.
Medical camp held at Alandi
LT Gen V D Tiwari, director and commandant, Armed Forces Medical College, inaugurated a medical camp at Alandi, which was jointly organised with Rajasthani Social Service Samiti. Services of ophthalmologist, dentist, gynaecologist and paediatrician were provided at the hospital. More than 350 people were checked in the camp.
Applications for JCO (Catering) invited
THE Army has invited applications from candidates for recruitment of Junior Commissioned Officers (Catering). The candidates should be between 21 and 27 years as on January 28, 2004 and should have passed Std XII from any board. They should have also a diploma or certificate in crockery or hotel management and catering technology from a recognised institute. Shivaji Trail members feted
SHIVAJI Trail, a programme in which 100 forts all over the country were to be visited, concluded on April 15. The group members were felicitated today.
The group started in 1997, comprised Babasaheb Purandare, P K Ghanekar, Ninad Bedekar, Mahesh Tendulkar, Dilip Godbole, Pandurang Patankar and Anand Palande. The felicitation was undertaken by Rev Father Stanley and presided over by Renu Maru, BJP women’s wing chief.
