Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad retained its top rank in the 2004 Cosmode-BW survey

Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) retained its top rank in the 2004 Cosmode-BW survey. IIM-Bangalore (IIM-B) was ranked second in the survey.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) re-entered the top 10 list after a gap of several years. Xavier Institute of Management (XIM), Bhubaneswar, also managed to enter the list. Among the business schools, IIM-A, IIM-Calcutta, IIM-B and XLRI Jamshedpur produced the maximum number of doctorates.

The Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, was ahead of other institutes in terms of strength and qualifications of its full-time faculty. According to the survey, IIM-A, IIM-Calcutta and XLRI were poor in networking while IIM-B and MDI, Gurgaon, were aggressive in networking.

Fore School of Management, Delhi, TA Pai Management Institute, Manipal, Goa Institute of Management and University Business School, Chandigarh are focusing on quality of teaching.

The top 50 institutes have 1,628 full-time faculty, while the next 50 have 818 faculty members. In the top 100 business schools, 58 were autonomous PGDM schools, 15 were university departments of business administration and 27 were university-affiliated business schools.
