Starting the first week of October, the UIs Global Campus began taking applications for the first of its four online degree and certificate programs, which begin in January, and initiated the hard launch of its marketing campaign, intended to attract students to those programs and others expected to begin during 2008.
The Global Campus is accepting applications from prospective students for its bachelor of science in nursing degree completion program. In November, pending approval of the Urbana-Champaign Senate, the Global Campus will begin accepting applications for a masters of education degree with a concentration in E-learning and two graduate certificate programs in foundations of E-learning and technologies for E-learning.
Chester Gardner, special assistant to the president, who has led the Global Campus from its inception, said that about 75 total students will be enrolled in the initial programs, with about 20 students in the nursing program and the remainder spread among the other three education programs.

NNU enrolling students for health care MBA
The Northwest Nazarene University School of Business is accepting applications for its new Master of Business Administration degree program specifically designed for the medical community. Classes start in March.
NNU said in a release that the schools MBA in health care focuses on the needs, issues and skills relevant to the health care industry while including topics and skills common to a traditional MBA program.
Enrollment is limited to 24 students. Students successfully studying on the recommended schedule are likely to complete the program in 16 months, the university said.

KOLKATA: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), the country's foremost school specialising in the subject, will set up a campus in the city this July.
IIFT is initially looking for rented space to start classes. It plans to move to its own campus by end-2006 or early next year.
Around 60 students are expected to be given admission on the Kolkata campus. The Delhi campus takes in 100 students per year. IIFT will conduct group discussions and interviews for admission in the city from January 30 to February 2.

URBANA – Global Campus isn't exactly spanning the globe – yet.
Right now, 10 students are taking classes through the University of Illinois' new virtual campus – three in a bachelor's-completion program in nursing and seven in electronic-learning programs – and the majority are from Illinois.
