Online courses drive big growth at Kaplan University

Enrollment in online courses through Kaplan University has surpassed 27,000 students, making it the largest university in Iowa. While online education appeals to men and women, nearly three-quarters of Kaplan students are women, most in their 30s, pursuing associates, bachelors and masters degrees, or career-oriented certificates. In its 2006 Making the Grade report, online education advocacy organization Sloan Consortium, estimated that nearly 3.2 million students took at least one online course during the 2005 fall term compared with 2.3 million the previous year.
