William Bray of The Bray Law Firm in Charlotte has been named an adjunct professor of sports law at UNC Charlotte, where he will instruct MBA students at the Belk College of Business in that school’s new Sports MBA program.
Bray is a past chair of the Sports & Entertainment Law Section of the NC Bar Association, a 150-attorney organization dedicated to promoting the practice of sports and entertainment law in North Carolina. His practice consists of extensive work in NASCAR, where he represents teams and drivers in matters ranging from sponsorship to litigation.
The Sports MBA program at UNC Charlotte offers students core courses with focused curriculum on the sports industry, and is supported by a Sports Advisory Council that includes some of the region’s top industry professionals. Students will receive classroom instruction as well as internships with area sports organizations. Bray’s class will be the first class specific to the sports industry taken by first-year students of the program.

The bride, an assistant product manager for the Best Foods division of CPC International in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., received a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in business administration from New York University. She is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin J. Barbanti of Breezy Point, Queens.

From its recreation centers to its professional sports arenas, Chicago has a passion for sports that creates career opportunities for well-trained managers as well as athletes. To help students make the most of these opportunities in Chicago and around the country, DePaul University's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business will launch an MBA concentration in sports management this September.
Students in the new program will complete core courses in DePaul's part-time MBA program and then study sports leadership, management and operations, as well choose from elective courses in quality management, recruitment and selection, managing service operations, negotiation skills and project management.
UNC Greensboro said yesterday that Vidyaranya Gargeya, a professor of information systems and operations management, has been named as the head of the masters of business administration program at the Bryan School of Business and Economics.
Gargeya had been the interim head of the MBA program since 2006. He has been at UNCG for 14 years, receiving honors that include the UNCG Alumni Teaching Excellence Award, the Bryan school’s Senior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award and the Bryan school’s MBA Association Faculty Award.
Gargeya received his doctorate degree in business administration from Georgia State University

Four graduates of the University of Virginias Darden School of Business have been named to Black MBA Magazines list of the Top 50 Under 50 African-American corporate executives.
Darden alumni Thomas Baltimore (91), Bryan Simms (94), Warren Thompson (83) and William Wright (87) were all named to the prestigious list.

Santa Clara University's Part-Time MBA Program Named No. 14 by U.S. News
The part-time MBA program at Santa Clara Universitys Leavey School of Business is ranked No. 14 among the top MBA part-time programs in the country, and the programs graduates command top salaries nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report magazines annual Americas Best Graduate Schools issue that was released today.

The UNC Charlotte Masters in Business Administration program is partnering with the National Black MBA Association and The Princeton Review to offer scholarships for Graduate Management Aptitude Test preparation courses.The scholarship program began last fall and is aimed at helping candidates whose backgrounds are traditionally underrepresented in MBA programs.
According to The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, the organization that accredits business schools, only about 5.3 percent of U.S. MBA students are African American. Hispanic Americans represent about 5.2 percent of the MBA student population, while less than 1 percent is Native American.
