Representatives of Wisconsin-Madison’s business school participated in an online chat with potential applicants. Here’s the transcript B-Schools
The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Business is unique, say its administrators, for its specialized courses in the second year. Students can focus on disciplines from brand management to entrepreneurship. Some students who responded to the 2007 Business Week survey praised the school for its practical, applied lessons and personalized touches.
Recently, in a live chat event, Betsy Kacizak (Betsy Wisconsin), director of MBA Admissions & Financial Aid at the school, and second-year student Ben Burney (Ben Wisconsin) fielded questions from audience members and BusinessWeek.com reporter Francesca Di Meglio (Francesca BW). Students at Green Bay West High School got a taste of modern beat-style poetry Friday when the Madison-based Youth Speaks Wisconsin group visited the school.
Youth Speaks Wisconsin is a joint initiative of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Madison School District.
It seeks to empower youths to express themselves through spoken word poetry and the urban arts.

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh students seeking a master of business administration degree in northeastern Wisconsin soon will find classrooms a little closer to home.
After three years of fundraising and 10 months of planning and construction, the University of Wisconsin Osh-kosh College of Business MBA and Graduate Education Center in downtown Green Bay will open its doors to the community, students and alumni.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house was held Wednesday at the UW-Oshkosh MBA and Graduate Education Center on the first floor of the Regency Center, 333 Main St.

The Wisconsin MBA program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business was ranked 32nd in the regional category in this year's Wall Street Journal/Harris Interactive ranking of MBA programs.
The program dropped slightly from 25th place in 2006, leveling out near its previous rankings of 33rd in 2004 and 34th in 2005.
The Wall Street Journal's seventh annual ranking was published in the newspaper's Monday, Sept. 17 edition and was based on feedback from recruiters. To create the ranking, more than 4,000 recruiters were surveyed on their views of full-time MBA programs across 21 attributes including: students' leadership potential
Columbia Basin College will offer a video conference at 8 a.m. Thursday for people interested in getting an online bachelor's degree in nursing.
The conference will include information about enrollment, cost and benefits of the program, which is offered through the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
CBC developed the online curriculum with the Wisconsin university to provide more options for students to develop nursing careers.
The video conference will be at the CBC Health Science Center, 891 Northgate Drive, Richland.

A master of engineering program that began out of a lunch conversation between University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty and industry professionals is graduating its first class of 10 students this week.
The program, the Master of Engineering in Engine Systems (MEES), focuses on mid-career professionals looking to gain a broad knowledge of engines and uses an online format that allows them to maintain their careers while earning the degree. Six of the 10 graduates come from Wisconsin-based companies such as Harley Davidson, Briggs & Stratton and Mercury Marine.
