UNC Greensboro said yesterday that Vidyaranya Gargeya, a professor of information systems and operations management, has been named as the head of the masters of business administration program at the Bryan School of Business and Economics.
Gargeya had been the interim head of the MBA program since 2006. He has been at UNCG for 14 years, receiving honors that include the UNCG Alumni Teaching Excellence Award, the Bryan school’s Senior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award and the Bryan school’s MBA Association Faculty Award.
Gargeya received his doctorate degree in business administration from Georgia State University

UNCG grads receive their diplomas
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro handed out about 1,000 diplomas Thursday at its December commencement. The ceremony was held at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The head of the schools MBA program delivered the commencement address.
Family and friends packed the coliseum. Many of them said a December ceremony is bonus to the holidays.
Im overwhelmed, said Evette Taylor. My niece, Latisha Tranell Wilkins, is graduating and Im here supporting her. I have my sister, my niece and my nephew here with me. Its overwhelming.
About 500 students who graduated in August were also able to attend the commencement ceremony.

Santa Clara University's Part-Time MBA Program Named No. 14 by U.S. News
The part-time MBA program at Santa Clara Universitys Leavey School of Business is ranked No. 14 among the top MBA part-time programs in the country, and the programs graduates command top salaries nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report magazines annual Americas Best Graduate Schools issue that was released today.

Chris Young Named President & General Manager of ITT's Space Systems Division
Mr. Young was named president and general manager of Space Systems Division on April 18, 2006. Previously, Young served as Vice President and Director for the divisions Commercial & Space Sciences group.

Bray is a past chair of the Sports & Entertainment Law Section of the NC Bar Association, a 150-attorney organization dedicated to promoting the practice of sports and entertainment law in North Carolina. Holbrook named Eastern Bank chairman, CEO
Eastern Bank has named Richard E. Holbrook of Medfield as chairman and chief executive officer, the bank announced yesterday.
Holbrooks promotion completes a transition that began five years ago, when Stanley J. Lukowski announced his plan to retire as chairman and CEO at the end of 2006, according to a statement from the board of directors. Holbrook joined Eastern Bank in 1996 as its chief financial officer and was promoted to president in 2001.
Robert F. Rivers was elected president to succeed Holbrook. Both promotions were effective Jan. 1.

Webster University named Trevor Barker director of its new global MBA program in the university's School of Business and Technology, the school announced Monday.
Webster said the 11-month, full-time program is the first truly global MBA, with nine-week terms at five international Webster campus locations - Leiden, the Netherlands; Geneva, Switzerland; Vienna, Austria; London; and Shanghai, China. Students spend the entire academic program in an international environment, fully immersed in the history, culture and business practices of these countries.

Morse loses finance head
Technology services group Morse is saying goodbye to its chief financial officer Stuart Cruickshank.
Cruickshank has resigned from the job and leaves the board of directors and the company with immediate effect.
Cruickshank joined Morse in July 2005. He was previously finance director at games company Eidos.
Morse director of finance Eric Dodd is filling the position in the interim.
A statement to the London Stock Exchange said: Eric is a chartered accountant with an MBA from the London Business School. Prior to joining the company in autumn 2005 he held senior financial management positions in GlaxoSmithKline, Whitbread and Marconi.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools recently approved Florida Memorial Universitys bid to begin offering a masters degree in business administration.
This will be the fourth masters program offered by FMU, the others being three School of Education graduate programs: elementary education, reading, and exceptional student education.

Four graduates of the University of Virginias Darden School of Business have been named to Black MBA Magazines list of the Top 50 Under 50 African-American corporate executives.
Darden alumni Thomas Baltimore (91), Bryan Simms (94), Warren Thompson (83) and William Wright (87) were all named to the prestigious list.

Korea University Business School (KUBS) has introduced a ``selective dual degree MBA program’’ in cooperation with two other overseas schools. Students of the new MBA program can study at Fudan University in Shanghai, China; Korea University in Seoul; and the National University of Singapore for six months, each.
