The first graduating class of the Executive MBA program at the Kenneth Levene Graduate School of Business at the University of Regina gives full marks to the program.
Many say the intensive, 18-month program is more work than they expected, but also more rewarding and relevant than they thought it would be.
Its more than what I expected, said Graham Harvey, who operates several businesses in the Assiniboia and Moose Jaw area and is a self-described student of business.

Lawmakers have moved to scale back tuition benefits once lauded as some of the nations most generous to veterans, saying they proved far more popular and costly than expected.
The state Legislatures budget committee voted 16-0 last week to approve changes to the benefits, including eliminating a promise of free graduate school tuition for veterans and setting a limit on how much time they would have to apply.
The changes would take effect if approved by the entire legislature and Gov. Jim Doyle, who will consider them as part of his budget this summer. They would leave the program underfunded

The first class of the Fayetteville's campus Executive Master of Business Administration program visited Arkansas this week for orientation. But most of the projects and work will be done in Shanghai, China.
The 13 students of the first class are all in upper-level management at U.S. companies in China. Those companies, which include Wal-Mart, Dillard's, Kimberly-Clark and Proctor & Gamble, all nominated students for the executive MBA program.

CSU Stanislaus to start executive MBA program at Tracy
California State University, Stanislaus says it will offer an executive Master of Business Administration degree program in Tracy starting in August.
The 15-month, 36-unit program will offer an aggregate of courses. Classes will be held on Saturdays in the downtown Tracy Fire Administration Building training facility.
CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani says surveys done by the university have indicated there is a high demand for such a program in San Joaquin County.

Thunderbird, the Garvin School of International Management, is launching a redesigned Executive MBA program format in response to market demand for shorter, more intense programs that are even more global in scope.
Beginning this fall, Thunderbird will align its Executive MBA program in the U.S. with its companion program in Europe and shorten the program from 21 months to 16 months in duration. For the second straight time, the Executive MBA program at the Ross School of Business ranks No. 4 in the world, according to the 2007 BusinessWeek survey.
The biennial rankings are based on surveys of EMBA graduates and program directors. The Ross School ranked second in the graduate poll of nearly 2,700 students, receiving A+ grades for teaching quality and curriculum and an A for career services support. EMBA program directors, who were asked to list their top 10 programs, ranked the Ross School fifth overall.

The MBA program at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany has been ranked among the nations top 30 part-time MBA programs by BusinessWeek magazine.
The IUS program was ranked No. 18 in the nation and No. 3 in the Midwest.
The magazine has ranked executive MBA and executive education programs since the 1990s, but launched the new part-time rankings this year.

While most of Arizonas major universities offer executive Master of Business Administration degrees, Blanchard said his new program at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix will be the only one to focus on leadership, in particular, strong ethics and preventing corporate misconduct.

COLLEGE PLANNING: Program to offer scholarships
The Penn State Smeal College of Business Executive MBA Program is offering two $25000 scholarships to members of the class of 2009 who are employees of nonprofit organizations.
To be eligible candidates must submit a 500-word essay describing how the Philadelphia-based Executive MBA Program will help further the work of their nonprofit organization or cause.
The submission deadline is March 30.
