The students of the tentatively named South Side Health Career Academy will have the opportunity to receive professional certifications that could put them into the workforce immediately after graduation.
In doing so, the school will provide much-needed professionals to work in the citys booming medical community.

The Siemens Competition is one of the premier science and mathematics, research-based competitions in the nation for high-school students. The competition, renowned for its rigorous academic and judging standards, and for its emphasis on authentic scientific research, was established by the Siemens Foundation in partnership with the College Board in 1999.

The Micron Technology Foundation, Inc., announced today Virginia high school seniors Michael Lin, Sarah Marzen, and Catherine Pao will each receive a $16,500 scholarship as a part of the Micron Science and Technology Scholars program. Micron will honor Lin of York High School and New Horizons Governors School for Science and Technology, Marzen of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and Pao of Poquoson High School during a leadership and mentoring week at its headquarters and an awards banquet in June with Micron CEO Steve Appleton and other company and Foundation leaders.
