Oregon State University has named a new director to its School of Civil and Construction Engineering.
Scott Ashford, a 1983 OSU alumnus and former CH2M Hill engineer, received his doctoral degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and has been a professor at the University of California, San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering since 1996.
Ashford has taught and conducted research in many parts of the world — studying California highways, seismic hazards in Thailand and landslides in Sri Lanka.

Babson Colleges Portland, Oregon, Fast Track Blended MBA Names Local Director
Babson College has named Kristin Gustaff director of business development and program management for the new Portland Fast Track MBA that will kick off September 14-18 at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Portland, Oregon.
Babsons Fast Track MBA, designed for experienced professionals, is a unique blended-learning format that combines Web-based study with face-to-face sessions where students learn from world-class faculty, business leaders, and perhaps most importantly, each other.
Gustaff will have primary responsibility for directing business development activities not only in the Portland area but the greater Northwest as well.
UB names lawyer and top banking executive as dean and leader of its School of Business
Merrill Jay Forgotson, a lawyer and noted banking executive in Connecticut, is the new dean of the University of Bridgeports School of Business.
The appointment was announced by UBs President, Neil Albert Salonen, who said the new dean will connect with the business community, affirming UBs position as one of the leading business schools in the state.
Forgotson succeeds Dr. Glenn Basset, a professor and former dean and General Electric executive, who guided the school through the process of re-accreditation by the Association of College Business Schools
Babson Names Dennis Nations MBA Admissions Director
He received his MBA from Babson in 2003 and has a sales and marketing career background.
Nations says his recent experience as a student in the Babson MBA program will benefit applicants. I have lived through the program, and been able to see its relevance to the real-world. Pfeiffer names VP for finance
Pfeiffer University has hired bank executive Robin Leslie as vice president of finance.
Most recently, she was assistant vice president and investor-relations manager at First Charter Bank in Charlotte.
At Pfeiffer, Leslie will manage a range of financial operations, including budgeting and forecasting.
She succeeds Vivian Moore, who has left the school to pursue other opportunities.

UNC names associate dean of MBA program
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Tuesday appointed David Hofmann as the next associate dean for the MBA program at the universitys Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Morgan, currently a professor of organizational behavior and strategy at the UNC school, will replace Valarie Zeithaml effective July 1.
Zeithaml served as senior associate dean for academic affairs and marketing area chair at Kenan-Flagler before serving as the head of the MBA program for four years.

Columbia Business School Names Kelley Blanco Assistant Dean for Executive MBA Programs
Glenn Hubbard, Dean and Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics at Columbia Business School, has announced the appointment of Kelley Blanco as Assistant Dean for Executive MBA Programs at the School, effective March 12, 2007. Ms. Blanco moves into her new role from the Schools department of External Relations and Development, where she served most recently as Director of Development. She will report to Ethan Hanabury, Associate Dean of Executive MBA Programs at Columbia Business School.
