Florida university commercialization agreements grow

Public and private sector investments in research at major Florida universities totaled more than $1.6 billion last year, up $36.5 million from the year before.

Thats according to a survey by technology transfer directors at 13 Florida research universities coordinated through the Technology Transfer Office at Florida State University.

They said licensing income increased for Florida universities, and university researchers applied for and were issued more patents than in 2005.

As the economy becomes more and more globalized, so do graduate students at the University of North Florida. Graduate students at UNF have the opportunity to apply for the GlobalMBA program, where students spend a semester each at four different universities around the world, including UNF. Florida International University to offer MBA program in Panama

Florida International University is starting a master's in business administration program in Panama to help train more professionals in Latin America's fastest-growing economy, Jose de la Torre, dean of FIU's business school announced Wednesday.
