Panjab University will start Masters in Business Administration (MBA) course at its regional centre in Ludhiana from next academic session. This was revealed by PU vice-chancellor Dr RC Sobti, who was in city today to preside over a convocation ceremony at BCM College of Education. 60 seats have been sanctioned for the first year, which may be augmented later, he said.
He added that the university would also introduce Masters in Police Administration and Masters in Public Health.
Three degree-level courses on social sciences and technology and vocational education in education technology will also be introduced.

Chandigarh, August 17: MBA students from the Panjab University Regional Centre in Ludhiana met PU Vice-Chancellor, Prof R C Sobti to apprise him on the lack of facilities at the centre. The students said that there was a shortage of teachers and basic infrastructure facilities at the Ludhiana centre. They claimed that though the academic session began on August 7, the centre has a serious shortage of teachers. They alleged that the teachers at the centre were under qualified for their posts.

A Course in MBA in Energy Management might start at the Energy Research Centre, Panjab University, from next year. At present the feasibility of the course is being worked out.
Honorary Director of the centre Dr V K Rattan says that there are a number of other projects in the pipeline as well. The centre in collaboration with KTH, Sweden, and IIT have submitted a project to produce fuel cells. This involves the process of hydrogenation (separating hydrogen and oxygen using solar energy). "The objective of the centre is to enable researchers at the beginning of entrepreneurship for economically viable projects and discoveries," S Sivaram NCL director, said Monday.
