GMAT takers more than double in 3 years

Management courses are the most sought after by Indians wanting to study abroad. This trend is reflected in the rising number of people taking the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) every year.

The number of students taking the GMAT exam, for instance, has more than doubled from about 7,000 in 2004 to approximately 15,000 in 2007. The number of students taking the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), though, is higher — around 24,000 applicants in 2007.

However, over a three-year period (2004-07), while the number of students appearing for the GRE increased by around 41 per cent, the number of students appearing for the GMAT exam increased by 114 per cent. Globally, about 2 lakh students took the GMAT in 2006.

The Fujitsu “PalmSecure” device

Business-school test maker seeks Web cheaters

Prospective and current graduate business students who used a Web site to cheat on entrance examinations over the last five years could have their scores thrown out.
