Employers plan to boost the number of new MBAs they hire in 2007 and are reporting less interest in people with only an undergraduate education, new research from the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) shows.
Corporate recruiters expect to hire an average of 18 percent more workers with MBAs and other graduate business degrees this year than they did in 2006, according to the 2007 GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey. This increase follows the 18 percent jump in MBA hiring recruiters projected in last years survey.
The survey also found that employers plan to increase the number of jobs for people

MBA hiring, pay soaring
For the second year in a row, recruiters are flocking to B-schools. In fact, 98% of 60 schools polled in a recent survey say theyre seeing a big increase in job offers to MBA students, and 70% report a jump in starting salaries and signing bonuses.
Much of the demand is coming from those traditional stalwarts of MBA hiring - consulting, financial services, and consumer goods companies.
But recruiters arent hiring indiscriminately, says Greg Ruf, CEO of MBA Focus , which maintains a database on more than 20,000 MBAs that it uses to help about 1,800 U.S. employers find
MITs Sloan tops Harvard among recuiters
Massachusetts Institute of Technologys Sloan business school ranked higher than Harvard Universitys business school in a survey published in Wednesdays Wall Street Journal.
The research, conducted by the WSJ and Harris Interactive, examined what recruiters think of the nations top M.B.A programs. The rankings measured how appealing the business schools were to the corporate recruiters who hire their M.B.A. graduates.
MITs Sloan ranked tenth while Harvard was placed at 14.
Recruiters surveyed said Harvards shortcomings include an arrogant culture and graduates excessive salary demands.

UW-Madison rises in MBA rankings
The University of Wisconsin-Madisons masters of business administration program moved up two spots in an annual ranking of MBA programs, and advanced well ahead of its ratings two years ago.
U.S. News & World Report ranked the UW-Madisons MBA program as 29th among all U.S. programs, up from 31st in 2006. The program ranked 37th in the 2005 ratings.
U.S. News rates programs based on data from the schools, recruiters, deans and MBA program directors. Indicators measured include placement success, new student selectivity, starting salaries for graduates, and satisfaction among recruiters.
