U-Mary to Award 855-Plus Degrees Including First to Online Grads at 47th Commencement
Former Governor, Art Link, and wife, Grace, to receive honorary doctorates.
Bismarck, ND The 856 degrees to be awarded by the University of Mary at its 2007 commencement ceremony include 53 executive, health care, management, and nurse administrator MBAs that will be granted to the first graduates of the universitys online program, as well as more than 411 degrees to be presented to students who studied at one of the growing number of U-Mary adult education sites. The university also will confer the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree on the 22 graduates who comprise its second doctoral class. This will be the third consecutive year the number of degrees bestowed by the university has topped the 800 mark.
All told, 500 undergraduate and 356 graduate degrees will be presented at U-Marys Graduation 2007, April 28, at 2 pm, in the Bismarck Civic Center. Of these, 124 bachelors degrees and 287 masters degrees will be awarded to graduates of the universitys School of Accelerated and Distance Education. Twenty-five degrees will be presented to students from foreign countries. Eighty-nine undergraduate degrees will be awarded cum laude; 57, magna cum laude; and 42, summa cum laude. And 52 students who participated in the Harold Schafer Emerging Leaders Academy honors leadership program in business/communications, education, human services, and health care will graduate with the designation CertifiEd Schafer Leader.

UNCG grads receive their diplomas
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro handed out about 1,000 diplomas Thursday at its December commencement. The ceremony was held at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The head of the schools MBA program delivered the commencement address.
Family and friends packed the coliseum. Many of them said a December ceremony is bonus to the holidays.
Im overwhelmed, said Evette Taylor. My niece, Latisha Tranell Wilkins, is graduating and Im here supporting her. I have my sister, my niece and my nephew here with me. Its overwhelming.
About 500 students who graduated in August were also able to attend the commencement ceremony.
