Eligibility: Post Graduates or Master’s degree of any discipline from a recognized university with at least 55% marks for admission to PhD Programme in International Business. Admission to the programme is open to all those not more than 35 years as on 1st July, 2006 and wishing to pursue an academic career and developing the field of business education. Foreign Nationals are encouraged to apply; however, necessary clearances will have to be obtained from the Government of India.

How To Apply: Admissions Application Form - (this can be downloaded from IIFT’s website www.iift.edu together with 2 passport size photographs and copy of educational degrees obtained) Two letters of recommendation (in the format that may be downloaded from the IIFT’s website www.iift.edu). At least one example of scholarly research or professional writing. Application fee of Rs. 1,000/- to be submitted by all candidates as bank demand draft drawn in favour of IIFT payable at New Delhi (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PH candidates; US $ 50 for foreign students) SC/ ST/ PH category candidates to attach the requisite certificate. Applicants should pay particular attention to the question of career objectives in their statement of purpose. Carefully written and clearly enunciated goals should demonstrate how study at IIFT will influence reaching those objectives. The Research Committee will review academic performance of applicants including scholarly research or professional writing; the applicant’s statement of purpose; and letters of reference, usually from academics familiar with the applicant’s scholastic and research capabilities. The Committee, on this basis, will shortlist candidates for a viva/ presentation at IIFT Campus at New Delhi.

Comments: The programme consists of two phases: (I) Post Graduate Studies or the Course work of 12-16 months duration; and (II) Thesis-Writing (to be completed within 4 years of completion of course work). Students must obtain the required grades at every stage to continue in the Ph.D. programme. The selection of applicants is based on evidence of a high level of scholarly ability, involving both quantitative and qualitative skills; the motivation to complete a strenuous academic programme; and career objectives consistent with the PhD degree. Short-Listed candidates will send their research synopsis to the Institute by 30th April, 2006 and present it on 22nd May, 2006 at IIFT Campus, Delhi. The programme fee, payable by part-time students only is Rs. 15,000/- per annum. For SC/ ST/ PH candidates, a fee concession to the extent of 50% is applicable. Foreign students, enrolled on part-time basis, will pay fee of US $ 1,000 per annum. Applications must reach the Institute by 27th February, 2006 along with all required enclosures. On receipt of applications, a copy of the PhD brochure will be sent to the candidates. Reservations for SC/ ST/ PH candidates will apply as per Government of India rules. Full-time students will be expected to involve themselves in the Institute’s training and research activities and will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000/- p.a. for the same. IIFT to set up campus in city this July

KOLKATA: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), the country's foremost school specialising in the subject, will set up a campus in the city this July. IIFT is initially looking for rented space to start classes. It plans to move to its own campus by end-2006 or early next year. Around 60 students are expected to be given admission on the Kolkata campus. The Delhi campus takes in 100 students per year. IIFT will conduct group discussions and interviews for admission in the city from January 30 to February 2.
