Sacramento State's Office of Graduate Studies and the Graduate Diversity Program are offering a workshop aimed at helping students apply to graduate school. While 20 years ago it was seen as a great achievement to have a four-year college degree, today it is more common for high school graduates to seek higher education, said Jose Martinez, supervisor for Graduate Admissions. Applications are up for M.B.A. programs There was stronger competition to get into business schools this year, with M.B.A. programs reporting increased applications to both full- and part-time programs, according to a study released Monday. Applications increased to about two-thirds of full-time masters in business administration programs in the United States in 2006, compared with 21 percent that reported an increase in 2005, according to the Graduate Management Admission Council. About two-thirds of part-time and executive M.B.A.s - programs for older students with more work experience - also showed increases.
