Marutis Road to Success

The road leading to this milestone i.e. rolling out of millionth car, has not been without its share of potholes. Recalling his early years, R.C.Bhargava, Managing Director said, When we started in August 1981, we knew nothing of car manufacturing. Undaunted, the dedicated team set about selecting the right collaborator. At that point of time, major car producers in the world were not willing to risk an investment in India, remembers Bhargava. Whats more, the car selected would have to be small, affordable and fuel efficient. We were at the final stages of negotiations with a Daihatsu, when we received a proposal from Suzuki. The proposal was not only attractive, they offered us the kind of car we were looking for.

With the millionth car down the assembly line, MUL has irrevocably changed many myths about the Indian automobile industrys capabilities. Even the sceptics grudgingly admit the achievements of MUL, the foremost being that MUL does not smack of inefficiency that public sector undertakings are infamous for.

Countering this perception, R.C.Bhargava said, People on the shop floor are the same throughout the length and breadth of India. It is the managerial staff that makes all the difference. Just imagine, a large organisation like ours has had no labour or union problems. Workers feel that their managers are not unapproachable. It is this management-worker relationship that has stood MUL in good stead. This has reflected in product quality, making buyers more quality conscious. And it has forced the Indian automobile industry to sit up and take notice. The ancillary units and OE suppliers had to upgrade to face the stringent quality requirements, said RC.Bhargava. This has boosted the confidence amongst auto parts manufacturers in scouting for markets in western countries. Many have found new markets beyond the Indian shores.

How to Achieve Success

There are number of ways in which different people have achieved success. But there is indeed no single guaranteed formula to be successful. Circumstances and factors leading to success could be quite varying in various cases. The intention of including numerous qualities which can help in making your entrepreneurial efforts a success is not to emphasise that you must possess all these. In fact, you dont necessarily require all A to Z qualities and personal traits. For example, it is not a must to be academically brilliant, to have an actor-like impressive personality or a lot of money. You will

Magic of Can-Do Spirit

Determination has always been one of my strongest assets. I never let any bowler or situation daunt me. I am equally determined in other areas of life too-if I set my eyes on something I dont rest until I achieve my goal. Sunil Gavaskar. Achieving success in business is basically not different from succeeding in any other field in life. Luck, chance, coincidence, support or help, which often are associated with success no doubt, at times, do play a very crucial or even decisive role. Yet there is no denying the fact that if we depend solely on these elements and
