There are innumerable instances of people who entered business without proper knowledge, experience, or mislaid trust and landed in trouble. Here is an example of a young man who started manufacturing moulded chairs. I had no experience in marketing and after manufacturing lots of chairs I started supplying these to the furniture dealers. All of them exploited me as they retained the material and told me that they will pay after the chairs were sold, of course, after deducting their commission. In this manner whatever 1 invested went to the market with no returns. No one took interest in promoting the sale of the chairs. Even if a few pieces were sold by some of the dealers they didnt pay. Having no more resources to invest more money, I had to stop manufacturing chairs and literally lost all the money. Finally I came back and joined a private job, he revealed.
As far as possible one should go for independent business. Take the case of one Mr. Sharma who started partnership in 1973, continued with it till 1990. Finally it broke down compelling him to go for a salaried job. Reacting to a question as to what led to dissolving the partnership, he said: What can one do when the other partner starts losing trust, doubting your integrity and turns dishonest!
