Explanation of Two Factor Theory

What is Exploratory Factor Analysis

The Exploratory Factor Analysis method (EFA) is a technique that can be used for uncovering the underlying structure (dimensions) of a large set of variables. Therefore, EFA reduces a large set of variables to a couple of underlying factors. Example: You have set up a questionnaire about customer satisfaction in the civil aviation industry (United Airlines, Delta, Lufthansa). You have identified 30 items to describe and evaluate customer satisfaction (e.g. "convenience of buying tickets", "convenience of checking-in", "environment of the lounges", "friendliness of the flight attendants", "fulfilling special desires", "quality of food on board", "comfort of the seats", "special offers

What is Expectancy Theory

The Expectancy Theory of Victor Vroom deals with motivation and management. Vroom's theory assumes that behavior is a result from conscious choices among alternatives. The purpose of the choices is to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. Together with Edward Lawler and Lyman Porter, Vroom suggested that the relationship between people's behavior at work and their goals was not as simple as was first imagined by other scientists. Vroom realized that an employee's performance is based on individual factors such as personality, skills, knowledge, experience and abilities. The expectancy theory says that individuals have different sets of goals and can be

What is Theory X and Y

B-schools just teach ‘theory’

B-schools just teach 'theory' In today's rapidly changing global economy, upper management in most companies are becoming increasingly dependent on junior managers to take "complete ownership" in their areas of activity. In fact, asking them to function more or less as entrepreneurs themselves! That can be exciting. But are most of our MBA graduates ready? A tremendous amount of learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. While the breadth of material covered does not leave room for as much depth, the degree definitely leaves the graduating student confident of the theoretical exposure that he has acquired, coupled with the urge to try
