KMIZ-TV wins First Place at MBA Convention
JW Broadcasting, LLC, owner of KMIZ-TV/KQFX-TV/KZOU-TV and The Show Me Weather Channel, is pleased to announce recognition of the news and weather departments of ABC 17, the Spirit of Missouri, by the Missouri Broadcasters Association.
MBA recently honored ABC 17s Chief Meteorologist Sharon Ray with First Place in the Best Weathercast in Missouri category. This is the sixth time in seven years MBA has honored KMIZ-TV in the category.
ABC 17 also received two Certificates of Merit from MBA in the Spot News and News series categories.
We are honored once again that our peers recognize us as a consistent leader in weather and severe weather coverage, said Curtis Varns, News Director of JWs four television stations in central Missouri. The Show-Me Weather Team has been recognized by MBA six of the last seven years. The north-western regional convention of university teachers' associations, organised by the committee for the formation of All India Federation of University Teachers Association (AIFUTA) at the University Business School today, reiterated the need for greater accountability and autonomy in university affairs.
Delegates from teacher associations of various universities of the north-western region participated in the convention. The aims, structure and functions of the proposed AIFUTA were also discussed. Speakers reiterated the need for greater autonomy from political and bureaucratic pressures and also decided to submit proposals for structural reforms in the university system.
The convention was organised as a part of the

Hong Kong team wins WFU elevator competition
Students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology took top honors in Wake Forest University's annual MBA Elevator Competition for their plan for a device that distinguishes between acute bacterial or viral infections.

UW venture capitalist team wins national competition
It looks as if the University of Washington may have some budding venture capitalists walking the halls.
For the second time in the past three years, a team from the UWs MBA program won the national Venture Capital Investment Competition.
People are pretty excited around here today, considering who we beat, UW business school spokeswoman Nancy Gardner said.
