Canadian vs. American MBA programs
The brain drain is most commonly used to refer to the exodus of highly-skilled workers — lured by the promise of lower taxes and greater opportunities — from Canada to the U.S. But for some aspiring Canadian entrepreneurs, traders, and consultants, the brain drain occurs far earlier.
Fraser Stark, a native of Toronto, is one of them. He earned his Honors in Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontarios Richard Ivey School of Business in 2001. After graduating, Stark worked at Intrawest Corp., the real estate development giant, as well as leading management consulting firm Bain & Company. With a distinguished undergraduate record and solid employment credentials, Stark would have been a welcome addition to any Canadian MBA program. But Stark chose to apply exclusively to American schools, and today is happily enrolled at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

When combined, however, the two result in a potent combination of knowledge, experience and skills - a mix that is increasingly popular for Canadian students and employers.
