MBA student held in London
Just days after 12 Indians were detained by Dutch authorities at the Amsterdam airport, raising questions of racial profiling or paranoia, there is yet another instance of an Indian - an MBA aspirant - being held for three days in London.
A worn-out Mohammed Shafiq Ahmed, a 23-year-old from Hyderabad, was detained in London for three days and interrogated, all for not having a transit visa. He was finally deported to India. Shafiq, who works as a clerk in Dubai, was on his way to the US to join an MBA course when this happened.
They are actually scared ever since the terror threats. They are questioning everyone, said the 23-year-old MBA aspirant.

Drug trial turns awry for NRI MBA student
An Indian student who completed a management course and agreed to be part of a drug trial has been struggling to cope with the effects of the trial and is looking forward to returning to India.
Navneet Modi, the student, agreed to a drug trial for US testing firm Parexel in March, but is now said to be a pale shadow of his former outgoing self. He is reported to be taking anti-depressants and medication to stop his skin itching.

Morse loses finance head
Technology services group Morse is saying goodbye to its chief financial officer Stuart Cruickshank.
Cruickshank has resigned from the job and leaves the board of directors and the company with immediate effect.
Cruickshank joined Morse in July 2005. He was previously finance director at games company Eidos.
Morse director of finance Eric Dodd is filling the position in the interim.
A statement to the London Stock Exchange said: Eric is a chartered accountant with an MBA from the London Business School. Prior to joining the company in autumn 2005 he held senior financial management positions in GlaxoSmithKline, Whitbread and Marconi.

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and London Business School (LBS) yesterday announced the launch of London Business School operations in Dubais DIFC.
These will include a Dubai-London Executive MBA programme - the first time the school has set up its own branded programme overseas - and Executive Education programmes. The streets of London are paved with gold, or so the saying goes; and this year MBA graduates from across Europe are hoping to find their fortunes in the city.
The city of London is drawing in the brightest and best of this years graduating classes.
The starting salaries for London Business School graduates going into finance are £58,000 with sign-on bonuses of up to £20,000 on top of that and annual bonuses depending on a firms performance.
It is a similar deal for graduates from Iese Business School in Barcelona.

T PAYS to be a female MBA (Master of Business Administration) student as many top schools provide additional financial aid to women, revealed Georges Knell, associate dean of business programmes at the London School of Business and Finance.
We are offering scholarships worth £4,000 (RM28,270) to students from Malaysia. Women get £2,000 (RM14,140) extra, he said, adding that women make up about 35% of enrolment at the school.
Knell was one of four speakers at the forum on The MBA Experience and Getting Into Business School which was held in conjunction with the World MBA

The first big budget event on Indian Business School campuses is going places. Literally so. The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta has tied up with Yale University for i2i (ideas to implementation), IIM Cs international business plan competition. The institute is also planning to tie up with a European partner and is in the final stages of negotiation with three business schools in Europe, including the London Business School and Rotterdam School of Management.
