1. AICTE hereby announces the schedule for consideration of applications, in prescribed forms for increase in intake in PGDBM / PGDBA Programmes, in the existing institutions for the academic year, 2004-2005.
2. Application form can be obtained from AICTE Headquarters, New Delhi or from any of the Regional Offices located at Bangalore, Bhopal, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kanpur and Mumbai, on payment of Rs.5000/- (for self-financing institutions) in the form of Demand Draft in favour of The Member Secretary, AICTE, payable at New Delhi on a Nationalized Bank from 25-02-2004 to 19-03-2004.
The Application Form can also be downloaded from the AICTE website. However, a DD for Rs.5000/- drawn in favour of The Member of Secretary, AICTE, payable at New Delhi, on Nationalized Bank must be enclosed with the application form failing which the application shall not be considered.
3. The application should be submitted in prescribed form in original to the AICTE, Hqs. and a copy each to the concerned Regional Officer of AICTE and the concerned State Govt. / UT Administration.
4. The last date of receipt of completed application form is March 19, 2004. Submission of copies of application to the AICTE, New Delhi and the State Government is mandatory, failing which the application is liable to be rejected.
5. The last date of receipt of NOC from the concerned State Govt. is April 20, 2004.
6. The applications not recommended by the State Govt. shall not be processed by the Council. The NOC of State Government should be received within the cut-off-date (20.04.2004).
7. Institutions, which are functioning at temporary premises, shall not be considered for increase in intake and such institutions will not be granted extension of approval during 2004-2005.
8. Increase in intake may be considered only within overall ceiling fixed by Council as given below, subject to compliance of all the Norms & Standards of AICTE, by the applicant :

Further Increase can be considered after accreditation of the institutions.

Foreign universities and institutions entering the field of technical education in India will now be governed by a fresh set of norms.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) last week drew up regulations meant to enforce accountability and prevent the entry of non-accredited varsities into the country. These rules will replace the norms issued by the apex body for technical education in April 2003.
Under the new system, foreign varsities and institutions will be treated on par with Indian technical institutions and shall be governed by all the rules, regulations, norms and guidelines of AICTE issued
1. AICTE will consider applications in prescribed forms from registered Trust/Society, Universities, State Government etc. for establishment of new technical institution for the academic year 2002-2003/2003-2004 and introduction of new courses and/or variation in intake capacity of courses for the academic year 2002-2003.
2. Those applicants, who had submitted proposal for the year 2001-2002 and not issued letter of viability/intent or issued letter of regret, may apply afresh, if they so wish.
3. Application forms with detailed instructions can be obtained from AICTE headquarters or the Regional Offices located at Bangalore, Bhopal, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kanpur and Mumbai from August 24, 2001

More seats for MBA, B Tech, Fashion Designing
The Delhi government has decided to increase 1,600 seats in various technical institutions and ITIs from this academic year. The decision was taken in a meeting of the State Vocational Education Board presided over by CM Sheila Dikshit. At present, the intake in B Tech course is 2,550.
This would be increased to 3,210. The intake of MBA course has been increased from 480 to 720.
The B Tech course has seen an increase of seats in Guru Teg Bahadur Institute Of Technology, Maharaja Suraj Mal Institute of Technology, Northern India Engineering College and Ambedkar
AICTE, the body of technical education of the Country invites proposals from the AICTE approved Technical Institutions viz University Department, Government Institutions, Grant-in-aid and Accredited self financing Institutions under the following schemes for the financial year 2001-02.
1. Research & Development (R&D)
2. Modernisation and Removal of Obsolescence (MODROBS) and
3. Trust Area Programme in Technical Education (TAPTEC)

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) School of Management, Jamshedpur, has invited applications for XAT and the academic programme of XLRI for 2006. XAT score is also used by 41 other management institutes for admission. The programmes at XLRI include two-year postgraduate programmes in business management, and personnel management and industrial relations. XAT-2006 is to be held on Janary 8. Application available at the selected branches of State Bank of India up to November 30. The cost of XAT form is Rs. 700 and XLRI forms Rs. 800. Candidates have to purchase both forms for admission to XLRI management programmes.
NMAT
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore on Tuesday decided to increase the fee for its two-year post-graduate management programmes from Rs 1.75 lakh per annum to Rs two lakh for the coming academic year.
The IIM-B's Board of Governors at a meeting, chaired by Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, approved the proposal.
IIM-B Director Prof Prakash G Apte told reporters later that all IIMs in the country would have an identical fee structure.
Apte said as per the 27 per cent OBC reservation, the intake quota in this context in the coming academic year at IIM-B is seven per cent.
