Developer Arrillaga gives Stanford $100M
A prominent Silicon Valley real estate developer has given $100 million to Stanford University. John Arrillaga, a longtime benefactor of the school, played basketball there nearly 50 years ago.
In the past, Arrillaga made a $22 million gift for the Arrillaga Family Sports Center, which now contains administrative offices, rooms for coaches, sports medicine, and conferences.
In addition, an alumni center, for which he donated $37 million, is named for his late wife Fran.
According to reports, the latest gift will be used for various programs within the university, and no decision has been made yet how it will be allocated.

BANGALORE: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has agreed with the Stanford Graduate School of Business at Stanford starter IIM B-exchange program. This program is 16 graduate students from each business IIM-B and Stanford as from the next academic year.
These students are young people between eight teams of four students, two from each school. In subsequent years, the program expanded to 20 students from each institution.

Nike Chairman Phil Knight is donating $105 million to Stanford University, all but $5 million of which will be used to help build a new campus for the business school.
The eight-building, $275 million project will be named the Knight Management Center -- but were wondering if anyone suggested simply branding the buildings with a huge Nike swoosh. Construction is expected to begin in 2008, although Stanford is still raising the rest of the money needed for the project.

As a second phase of the inaugural Stanford Graduate School of Management (GSB) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM-Bangalore) Link (SAIL) exchange program, 16 students of IIM visited Stanford last week on a seven-day trip. Mukesh Ambani, a GSB Alumni sponsored the visit of the IIM Students.
On the academic front, the students attended classes, talks by industry leaders and presented a joint research project on subjects spanning energy, wind power, day care, health care, and health insurance, Biocon and others on India and the global economy.

The Stanford Graduate School of Business is to revamp its MBA programme completely to give a more personalised education to each of the 380 students who graduate from the school every year. The new style programme will include a series of tutorials and a menu of new programmes to ensure that the most accomplished students are stretched further than in the current one size fits all system.
The decision to introduce the new way of learning at the Californian school was taken at the end of May and the programme will be introduced in the autumn

The University announced in August that Phil Knight, MBA 62 and founder and chairman of Nike Inc., will donate $105 million to Stanfords Graduate School of Business (GSB).

The Wall Street Journals ranking of M.B.A. programs placed the University of California, Berkeleys Haas school at No. 5 and Stanford Universitys business school at No. 18 nationally.
